The Nature Journal

Journal |
Keeping a Nature Journal helps a child to see the natural phenomenon
that they look at, to understand better what they are being told, and to remember
their natural experience from camp. Each child in the Nature Program elective
will be given a Journal to keep and some colored pencils (to be returned at
the end of the session). They will be asked to bring the Journal to each day's
session, and each session will involve making entries into the Journal. They
will be encouraged to draw and write in the Journal during their free time.
There will be an emphasis that the purpose of Journalling is not
to see who is the best artist, but that the purpose is to help each child see
what they are looking at and to remember the beauty of Cazadero's natural world
after they return home.
