This page has yet to be written. I did want to post this: there are NO brown recluse spiders in California, so we don't have any at camp. See http://spiders.ucr.edu/myth.html. It is a great page by a spider scientist, Rick Vetter, who took this photo:

The only reason to study this page is to see the "violin" on the cephalthorax (the part of the body supporting the eyes and legs). This "violin" is characteristic of the group that the brown recluse belongs to, the "violin spiders." Just thought you violinists would like to know. (See also the "fiddleneck" of a growing fern frond.)
