Tiers' and Liars' Barbeque

We will be having a free Tiers' and Liars' Barbeque on Tuesday at noon, July 28, 2009, just prior to the official opening of the main Conclave events (Wednesday, July 29, to Saturday, August 1, 2009, Loveland, Colorado; there are some activities starting on July 28). All demonstration tiers, Fly Tying Group members, and their spouses are welcome, but registration is required (see below). The plan is for a simple BBQ get-together so that the tiers can get to know each other, with BBQ beef/BBQ chicken sandwiches, chips, and drinks.
Please tie up a few of your favorites, as your nametag will have a cork on it for you to mount one of your flies.
Bring a couple of extras if you want to trade and barter.
The food and lemonaide will be free; the soda and beer will be cash bar. We have a very large selection of prizes (see bottom of page for list) to be given out in a raffle which will raise money for the Fly Tying Group. Be prepared for the Blind Wooly Bugger Contest and the Team Tying Contest (one person is the right hand and the other person is the left hand)!

The BBQ will be held at the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, which is 7 minutes outside of Loveland. It is an excellent place to fish! Sylvan Dale has made some special arrangements for our group to access their private waters, both on the morning and evening of our picnic. We have been granted special discounted rates, they have dispensed with the need to hire a guide (the guides have volunteered their time to assist us [their real role is to protect the Ranch's fish from fishermen who use barbs and do not know how to land a fish and release it safely!]), no requirement to book lodging as a condition of access, and less than full day rates. So if you want to book their stream or lakes, read on. Space is limited to 20 anglers, so make your reservations soon!
This information was provided by Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch:

Two miles of the Big Thompson River flow through the heart of the ranch, with rainbows and browns averaging 13 inches, some up to 25 inches. Trophy Trout Lakes in the Big Valley are home to rainbows, Donaldson steelhead, and browns, ranging from 15 to 30 inches (up to 12 pounds). Four Bass Lakes in the Big Valley contain panfish and largemouth bass up to 7 pounds. Main Ranch Ponds are stocked with rainbow trout in the 11 to 19-inch range. Local professional guides will be on hand to show you around. Learn more about the waters on the property here.
Please keep in mind: barbless hooks only; immediate and proper catch and release practices are required; rubber nets required; light weight rods are not appropriate on trophy trout lakes.
Reservations are taken directly by the ranch at 970.667.3915. Be sure to tell them you're with the FFF for our specially negotiated rate of $50.00 rod fee. You pay ranch directly via credit card. The rod fee covers fishing from 7:00 am to Noon. The picnic follows, and will give you rest and nourishment for more fishing afterwards if you'd like! The ranch staff and guides will be sure that our 20 anglers spread out on all the waters for a great fishing experience.
